About the Globalization of the Global Peace Film Festival, Inc. Orlando Florida by Janet McCall

I was bartending one of my bars I own and there was an Arab guy and an Israeli guy sitting chatting. The Israeli shouted at the the Arab that if he said one thing against Israel he would hurt him. The Arab said You jumped to conclusions since as a Berber I descend from Jews but I personally couldn't care less. In defense of my Isreali friend, he had spent several years in the Israel defense forces and he was dating my bar manager Bonnie. He didn't know in my bars patrons don't attack each other or the bouncers escort them out. After advice, he became calm.

This led me to think about what my ex-boyfriend, an ex-NYC Detective said about "Amicus Curae" advice in court. That means friend of the court, or third party view by someone not polarized or polticized by strife. Today, I don't think that can be the UN. Yet, Jews and Muslims, Israelis and Palestinians quote the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

One of Dr. King's quotes paraphrased is, (I know one of you guys will edit this) "At the end of your life what is remarkable is not the sound of your enemies but the silence of your friends. How often do we hear at funerals I could have, should have, would have done or said something if I knew it would have come to this. War and collateral damage are increasing child slavery, deaths by innocents and disruptions worldwide.

Today, we unrelated non-combattants, in my case US citizen, largely are ignorant listening due to state hyperbola or hysterical news anchors looking more for ratings that facts without opinions. Like for instance, do most consider CNN as impartial as it once was. Still news doesn't make peace but moreover reports more often on the problem not solutions.

I recently read on a site the Middle East Forum something that is remarkable because it is not state sponsored however it is just as real. So you know how I know this. I write for a site located on allpoetry.com as a member and I run there a page called Pixieland et al and while there I met a Moroccan who needed a name for his new ID Theft protection company. That company I sold him the name to so I don't own it any more.

The name I sold him was IDPixie which I get to keep my own email thereto. I had it before so I think I qualify to write this as an amicus curae though I got to admit that if you are for war, well, that is an extreme position as is someone who is always for peace. Still, I think I am qualified to review the IDPixie LLC press release on that page. The email link there is http://www.middleeastinfo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=12624 and my review is about a third as long.

This is my review of "Overview- Global Peace Film Festival Inc.- How Nations Are Standing And Using This For Peace PR"

It talks of the Global Peace Film Festival Inc. calls it the GPFF. The full name is now a brand name in the US of A for 5 years and expanded into Japan (public festival) this year now going on 2 years including discussions with the Korea’s, China (contacts public), Israel (private), Jordan (kingdom) and other nations who may show interest in peace in the future. It also coordinates with the UN International Decade’s Day of Peace celebration.

It includes a lot of branding talk meaning they own global rights to the name however noteworthy is that its executive director is Ms. Nina Streich, an ex-NYC Deputy Film Commissioner in the Hon. David Dinkins administration was also a film editor of note. She is a liberal Democrat of Jewish lady. As the founder is Mr. Abdul Taw’ala Alishtari, an NYU Graduate School Certified Bank Underwriter amd two consecutive NYS Businessman of the Year Awards in 2002 and 2003 conservative Republican Muslim. Peace might be the only thing they agree upon at all.

I liked their definitions that peace was not only "the end of war and the establishment of domestic harmony amongst all antagonists. The second is familial domestic tranquility such as husband and wife or to child non-abuse with some on all orphans. The third is the stopping of violence against children in the form of child slavery, prostitution and child contract labor." I am big on the anti-slavery stuff.

This talks about how nations came to them in general like Japan, China, Jordan and Israel and that in the case of Israel it was private cinematographers doing film conferences and in Jordan it was royals who wanted to work in tandem with the Israeli peaceniks.

The rest deals with cost structures for joing the Olypics type Global Committee. This is what attracted my attention personally since I think the idea of proliferating peace not war is cool.

Mr. Alishtari summarized giving this link to show he had written a Modern Peace Poem at Poets Against War and that his feelings were genuine not economic. http://poetsagainstwar.net/displaypoem.asp?AuthorID=24762 as well as at MEIC. Then they leave with their address for doing all this in Florida which is Global Peace Film Festival, Inc. 1000 Universal Plaza Studio, Bldg 22A, Orlando, Florida 32819, 407-224-2265, www.peacefilmfest.org

Is peace between the Koreas, Chinas, Japans, Jerusalemers and peace worthy of a peace film festival to memorialize it, advertise it and be a beacon. The arts community is a far better medium since they share public confidence and don't stand to profit from war. The best way to teach is to see which cinema might give a forum for diplomats without the hysteria.
