Thanks for taking the initiative to reorganize world categories. Which categories do you think stories should be put in? My opinion is that at the very least there should be a date category, a subject category and a location category (when those make sense). However I've also thought about the need to put them into both a Region (continent?) wide category as well as a country-specific category; and a big subject category as well as a specific subject category.
The reasoning is that stories about, say, Spain, might be of interest to people of Europe as well. Someone browsing Category:Europe might want to see what's listed for Europe as a whole instead of having to click on each country.
The counter-argument is that categories should be as specific as possible (i.e. city or even neighborhood level, if possible, down the line), but the region pages (i.e. Europe) should only have the recent stories including articles from areas that are included in the region.
