Distribution costs[edit]

Internet distribution via iTunes is low cost, but has reduced profit margin as Apple is aggressive in their commission pricing. To avoid incurring bandwidth cost, though, many film professionals are knuckling under to such monopolistic distributors.

A developing method of distributing, though, is being experimented with, trying to merge the technology of bitTorrent with corporate profitability. Wikimedia Foundation is working with "swarming" communication technologists to test if P2P can be used to reduce bandwidth costs by allowing users of certain browsers who've installed an extension to spread the cost of embedded videos. See the TorrentFreak article about the story: http://torrentfreak.com/wikipedia-adds-bittorrent-powered-video-100929/. Don't know if that will inform your article or not. - Amgine | t 04:18, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
