There are many resources available on the net that are in the public domain, and therefore freely usable without restrictions for Wikinews content. Please be reminded that articles copied from other sources should be deemed accurate and reliable and edited to adhere to the neutral point of view policy and naming conventions.
Works of the U.S. Government
According to U.S. Copyright Law, works of the United States Federal Government, specifically, "a work prepared by an officer or employee of the United States [Federal] Government as part of that person's official duties," are in the public domain. This includes:
- Voice of America - The Voice of America, which first went on the air in 1942, is a multimedia international broadcasting service funded by the U.S. government through the Broadcasting Board of Governors. Public domain applies only to "all text, audio and video material produced exclusively by the Voice of America." Images on the VOA website are usually copyrighted.
- American Forces Information Service
- National Transportation Safety Board often has interesting reports out
