Mayor of Dzerzhinskiy city near Moscow shot dead

The mayor of the city of Dzerzhinskiy near Moscow was shot dead on Friday, March 31, as the Interfax news agency reports, quoting Moscow region law-enforcement officials.
The body of Victor Dorkin, the head of the Local Government Board of Dzerzhinskiy, was found at 03:05 (GMT+3) in the city at 5 Tomilinskaya St. near the children's playground. Preliminary crime scene investigation reported that Dorkin suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and that 10 shells were found fired from a Makarov pistol. An investigation is in progress.
Dorkin was 52. He was educated as a chemical production engineer, and was a science candidate since 2004. He was first elected as mayor of Dzerzhinskiy in 1991.
