A 1951 publicity photograph of J.D. Salinger, photographed by Lotte Jacobi, from bluehydrangeas.wordpress.com. This is the most commonly used image of Salinger, even though it is over half a century old. Salinger was notoriously reclusive and assiduously avoided the public eye while alive. There are few extant images of him, and it is thus highly unlikely as a practical or reasonable matter that a free-use image could be created to replace this one. As he is now dead, this is even less likely. |
