Pentagon announces 2,000th U.S. military death

An announcement today by the Pentagon named Staff Sgt. George T. Alexander as the two thousandth soldier killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Alexander, 34, died from injuries inflicted by a improvised explosive device on October 17 this year. The explosive targeted the vehicle he was travelling in through Samarra, a central Iraqi town.
