Earlier this month was the first phase of the 2024 general elections in India. This one is the biggest in the world so far with over 900 million registered voters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a right-wing party have been in power since 2014 and it looks like it will stay like that. The BJP along with its coalition partner the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seem confident they'll win, with their campaign being to cross 400 out of 543 seats in the Parliament's lower house, the Lok Sabha or Council of the people

Meanwhile on the other side, the is the Indian National Congress INC, also known as the Congress party with its alliance, INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) led by Mallikarjun Kharge. After its defeat in the 2019 election, Congress have attempted to organize a united front against the BJP.

There are also smaller parties, mainly regional parties such as the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha and YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh.

Who will win in the biggest election in the world? We'll find out on June 4.
