IS this really an ultimatum? According to the Wikipedia page on ultimatum the demand is backed up by a threat. This page makes no reference to a threat...

An ultimatum is do something or we do something...aka black male, extortion...any of those words work too. DragonFire1024 03:13, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
UK must apologize (demand) otherwise Iran will continue to detain the sailors/marines (threat). Derek Parnell 07:18, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
to characterise a person's or country's action as an ultimatum is to make an editorial comment on it, something Wikinews does not do. if we can source a notable opinion that this is an ultimatum, then let's attribute this characterisation to whoever makes it. until then, i'm removing the statement. by the definition of ultimatum DF uses above, practically anything anybody says becomes an ultimatum. –Doldrums(talk) 07:48, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree but whatever...call it what you like...they are threatening the British government. DragonFire1024 07:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not an ultimatium. According to the above mentioned wikipedia article an utimatum "is a demand whose fulfillment is requested in a specified period of time". I haven't read of a deadline so far. -- Torsten 19:11, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Iran DEMANDS...or ELSE...thats an ultimatum...but whatever...im not going toargue...and im not going to argue that not everything has to fit the definition of Wikipedia. DragonFire1024 20:22, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
