Copyright This image of currency is copyrighted. The individual who uploaded this image of currency and first used it in an article, and subsequent persons who place it into articles assert that this qualifies as fair use of the material under United States copyright law.

Not all currency is copyrighted. Some currency is released to the public domain by the government agency. If this currency is PD, it should not include this tag; use {{PD}} or similar template, or upload to Wikimedia Commons. Fraudulent use of this image is punishable under applicable counterfeiting laws.

This template must be accompanied by a source, information on the copyright owner, and a fair-use rationale for every use, as described in our policies regarding non-free media. Media which does not contain this information may be deleted.

This should be used on images of currency not in the public domain. PD currency should be on Wikimedia Commons.
