Why, Wikileaks?

This and the recent events make Wikileaks look increasingly irresponsible with their "leaked" documents.

Don't get me wrong. I respect Wikileaks and their willingness to bring light to controversial issues with complete disregard for government pressure and personal threats, as is the case with this recent leak.

But aren't they also acting with complete disregard for the safety of others?

This is such a perfect leak with a perfect timing to break the relationship between the west and the middle east that I'm starting to question whether Wikileaks has a political agenda of its own or not. It just blows my mind how well-timed this leak is, how bad it's going to affect the middle east and how Wikileaks is going to actually leak these documents come rain or political thunderstorm.

I only hope that this doesn't completely break what's left or undo what little progress everyone's made so far.

Not to disagree with you on other points, but would you care to explain how is it "well-timed"? Relationship between US and middle-east has not been warm for several decades and is unlikely to drastically improve in the near future. Unless they wait 30 years, I don't see how the release would not hurt the relationships. -Funicode (talk) 01:45, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't see how this is more irresponsible than any other mass leak. It's no surprise that one arab country dislikes or feels threatened by another.

The entire point is that if you don't want the leaks to happen - dont send bullshit ill worded emails as if you're playing a giant game of risk!

Having said that it is very easy for some emails to be taken out of context

For example - about a year or so ago when Emails between academics at the University of East Anglia regarding certain papers on global warming saying words to the effect of "I'll die before I see that paper published".

There was uproar that climate scientists were tailoring the science to suit themselves - However it turns out that they weren't doing this at all; The papers in question were "Bad Science" so it wasn't a cover up of scientific findings that they didn't happen to like. AND they werent acting irresponsibly because it was a PRIVATE email until some dunce leaked it.

wikileaks reminds me of a child at primary school... The "I'm telling" scenario....

Except children don't regularly tell about war crimes or two-faced government agents.
