North American term for paraffin. A colorless, odorless fuel.

Almost always use is clichéd; avoid where possible. Allowable for major or minor keys, as well as in association with locks or ciphers.

Abbreviate to km/h, not kph. See SI.

Abbreviate to kWh. See SI.

kneejerk[edit]

Prefer without hyphen or space.

knockout[edit]

Noun with neither space nor hyphen, but to knock out as verb, with knock being conjugated.

know-how[edit]

Preferred with hyphen for noun.

Koran[edit]

Do not use. Prefer Qur'an.

Kosovo, Kosovan[edit]

Prefer Kosovan, not Kosovar.

Kurdistan[edit]

Do not use. Use Iraqi Kurdistan for the Iraqi federal entity. All other portions of the Zagros and Taurus mountain ranges - elements of ancient Corduene - do not have any recognition as a Kurdish state.

Kurdistan Worker's Party[edit]

Not Kuridstan Workers' Party, in Kurdish Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan thus abbreviate PKK. The PKK is identified by the United Nations, and other national and international entities, as a terrorist organization.
