This is pretty much my home wiki now. You should take anything you wish to know about me from my contributions if you wish to make a judgement about me.
I'm a real-world nobody. Through and through. I like that. I have to back up everything I say; nobody says 'wow, he's a doctor, he must be right.' Of course, that doesn't stop me calling the shots as I see them; I expect others to do the same — you earn more respect from me for speaking your thoughts than you do for actually being right.
I care about this project. I like to think that if I ever have any degree of fame whatsoever, it will be for being a Wikinews pioneer. This place is a public service and a vital one, but we must work hard to make it fill that role. It's a fight that's been going before I came here and it's a fight that will still be going for many years to come, but it's worth doing and it's worth doing properly.
I'm tough on my principles. I've interviewed a neo-Nazi because I believe journalists should never reject people who have newsworthy things to say, no matter how unpleasant they may be - things he said in that interview could have been prosecuted here in Scotland. I took on (with a little help from the rest of the community) WMF lawyer Mike Godwin after he tried to shout down Wikinews — and won. As far as I know, there's probably a picture of me mounted on a dartboard in the office.
One day, I'll get blown up in the Middle East or executed in China trying to make a point. That, or I'll actually manage to do something useful for the world. Until then — I'm right here. And I'm not budging from this project. :)
