Peter Shaplen is an American journalist, network news and corporate television producer, media message and crisis management consultant who lives in Marin county California.

He has produced news stories for American network news casts and was also the media pool producer for high profile trials including the Scott Peterson double murder, Michael Jackson molestation trials & OJ Simpson kidnapping and armed robbery pretrial. At Jackson the Los Angeles Times called him the "go to guy"; others named him "the lion tamer" for managing and fostering communication among the courts, law enforcement and the media. He continues to consult with courts and law enforcement in the US and British Columbia and has spoken to judges in California, Colorado, Guam, Missouri, Nevada, Washington and West Virginia participating in programs with the National Center for Courts and Media in conjunction with the National Judicial College.

He produces corporate programs from a wide range of clients in high tech, bio tech and agricultural fields.

Crisis clients have ranged from food producers to public utilities.

As a pioneer during the tech era, he helped to build, lead and manage the ON24 Financial News Network ultimately consisting of more than 100 correspondents, analysts and contributors in bureaus in New York, London and San Francisco. Honored Best of the Web by Forbes.com in 2001, Peter Shaplen was Vice President of News & Production and News Director managing the content as it earned acclaim for excellence in covering financial news.

Shaplen has won numerous honors including a Mark Twain Award from the Associated Press, a Special Award from the Radio-TV News Directors Association,and from the San Francisco Film Festival. Corporate honors include numerous Communicator, Mercury, Questar, Summit, Telly Awards among others.
