Welcome[edit]
65.190.139.230, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay! If you haven't done so already, you may want to create an account.
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!
I'd also like to remind you that you can't post copyrighted stuff here without permission. Please see Wikinews:Copyright. Happy editing Bawolff ☺☻ 19:36, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Sorry I didn't explain myself well[edit]
Can you please find the place where it says it is a press release and is not copyrighted and can be used? the only thing i could find is from: http://walmartwatch.com/home/pages/copyright
U.S. and foreign copyright laws protect the content on this web site. WalmartWatch.com and The Center for Community and Corporate Ethics invite you to view, use, download and distribute to others, without charge, content that appears on this web site provided that you give attribution to WalmartWatch.com and/or The Center for Community and Corporate Ethics, as appropriate, by including the following statement on any such copy: “Used with the permission of WalmartWatch [or The Center for Community and Corporate Ethics].” You may not modify any content on this Web site for any purpose, and you may not copy, download, store or distribute any content on this web site for any commercial purpose. (emphasis added)
This prevents it from being used in a wiki (i think) Bawolff ☺☻ 23:37, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
- That and press releases are not suitable sources and should not be used on Wikinews. See Wikinews:What Wikinews is not --Wolfrider 00:42, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
