Welcome to the Wikinews Article Wizard! This wizard will help you to write a Wikinews article. Once you've completed writing it, you submit it for peer review by an uninvolved reviewer. If it passes review, it is published. If it doesn't pass, the reviewer provides a template on the article talk page with feedback on why the article isn't ready for publication. Hopefully, the problem(s) can be fixed; so you can fix the article, then resubmit it for review.
Step one: choose a news event to write about
A news event is
Fresh — something that has happened within the past day or two.
You may wish to read more about freshness.

Relevant — of interest to more than just a few hundred people. For example, your friend's birthday party probably isn't news — unless it's, say, Bill Gates.
You may wish to read more about newsworthiness.

Specific — for example, continental drift isn't news, but an earthquake may be.
Is it already being covered?
If there is a related article developing in our newsroom, you may be able to help with it.
If there is a related article on our front page, for the first 24 hours after publication it can still be edited.
