Once this kind of thing gets rolling... it won't go away. -Edbrown05 04:33, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right. Will you accept a nomination Edbrown05? - Amgine | talk en.WN 04:34, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey wait, I'm not sold. (interupted my thought!) -Edbrown05 04:40, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The anarchy that is news, this is not an encyclopedia. I guess that is all I had to say, yeah, I'll accept nomination. -Edbrown05 04:44, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is not an encyclopedia, but the disputes are surprisingly similar: What is an NPOV title? What is disruptive behavior towards other users? Ed, the current practice is that individual admins are forced to make controversial choices -- or that we end up with silly, uncoordinated votes, or that we do nothing. Believe me, if after a month or two, I'm convinced that the ArbCom isn't working, then I will get fully behind getting rid of it, and I'm sure others will join me as well. But I'd like to at least give it a try.--Eloquence 04:52, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any particular target here besides Neutralizer? -Edbrown05 06:21, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a community problem. -Edbrown05 06:28, 18 January 2006 (UTC) If that's it, thank goodness. -Edbrown05 06:33, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who is a problem here at wikinews.... answering myself ... nobody .... so why should we change the rules? -Edbrown05 06:45, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
in capitalization: WHY DOES WIKINEWS NEED ARBCOM? -Edbrown05 06:48, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm serious about that, what, for one individual? -Edbrown05 06:52, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the interest of not tearing open old wounds, I'd like to avoid talking about too many specific cases, but there have certainly been conflicts in the past where an ArbCom could have been helpful - if only by indicating that it considers a case not worthy to be heard. There have been huge edit wars between certain users, a major conflict between me and another user, and so forth. I think we all feel that it's best if the ArbCom has nothing to do, of course - and if we solve our problems without resorting to some kind of "community court". But I do think that such a system existing could, in many cases, be a way to avoid extreme escalation.--Eloquence 15:08, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As we grow, there will probaly be more and more cases. news is a controversial subject. But currently is mostly Neutralizer. Bawolff ☺☻ 20:59, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
