Request to change the category's name[edit]

Request to change the category name from Green Party (UK) to Green Party of England and Wales. There has not been a Green Party UK since 1990. There are multiple different green parties in the UK, each of which is independent from each other (i.e. Green Party of England and Wales, Scottish Green Party, Green Party in Northern Ireland). I have tried to change the name of this category but I do not have permission to do so. Can someone else change it please? Helper201 (talk) 23:46, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Helper201: I'll look into it. Renaming categories is a difficult, messy business; even if you'd been permitted to move the category page, it would have broken things. The first questions that come to mind are: how many of these things are there; which if those do we have; and are the articles currently in the category really for the England-and-Wales one. --Pi zero (talk) 00:16, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Pi zero: Thank you for your reply and saying you will look into this. Can you please clarify what you mean by 'how many of these things are there' and 'which if those do we have'? In terms of the articles in the category most seem relevant to the Green Party of England and Wales. The UK Parliament election pages are relevant to all the parties, since they all usually participate in these, but seperatly as individual parties with different leaders, policies, ideologies etc. The Green Party of England and Wales is the only one that has elected representation at the UK wide level. Even at UK wide elections each party only stands in their relevant area (i.e. the Green Party of England and Wales only stands candidates in England and Wales, the Scottish Green Party only stands candidates in Scotland and the Green Party in Northern Ireland only stands candidates in Northern Ireland). I will try and help as best I can if you have questions about the party, the Wikipedia article for the party itself is quite comprehensive. The Green Party (UK) Wikipedia page may also be helpful as it describes when the party split into three separate parties in 1990. Helper201 (talk) 00:29, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Helper201: Thanks for the additional info re these parties. When I said "how many of these things are there", I meant, how many of the green parties you refer to do we have categories for. That question (once asked) is easily answered: we have categories for three green parties: UK, US, and Scottish. (by inspection of Category:Political parties). --Pi zero (talk) 00:37, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Helper201: Okay, done. --Pi zero (talk) 01:23, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Pi zero: Thank you. Really appreciate it. Helper201 (talk) 01:25, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
