Electric vehicle[edit]

There would be a category for electric vehicles, because now there is a lot of news about this vehicles. --Diamondland (talk) 12:30, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Electric vehicle category[edit]

(from my User Talk page) Hi,

I noticed your comment on the transport category talk about a sub-category for electric vehicles. I thought I'd give you a little info that might make that happen.

Wikinews policy dictates that a category can be created if it can be populated with five or more published articles. So, if you can find that many main namespace articles that clearly justify being in the category, request it.

Yes, you'll find we fully protect news stories once they're several days old; the solution is to put a list of links to relevant articles on Category talk:Transport and add the {{editprotected}} template to bring it to administrator attention. Someone will review your list, create and sight the category, and put relevant articles in it. Do try and tie this to a relevant Wikipedia category; because, there are bots and enWP templates to put on portals over there listing recent news on a subject, and encouraging people to contribute relevant news stories here.

So, hope this helps, and thanks for your interest in making Wikinews more useful. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:18, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

THANK YOU A LOT (with big letters ;-). --Diamondland (talk) 09:00, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest create now the Category:Electric vehicles. Articles (archived, so no longer publicly editable) for the category (this is a small sample, because there is a lot more; see [1] [2]):

  • I've added six out of the eight above-listed articles to the category - once I created it. Two just made very minor mention of electric vehicles, so I judged didn't merit the categorisation. One that did is an oldie I think is quite suspect; a huge quote lifted from MSM, and something we'd shoot down now. If you can find more, great. Use the editprotected template on individual article talk pages. Many people do not realise how useful a contribution stuff like this is for Wikinews. You boost interwikis, up our pagerank, and so on. I've done all this work in the pub, on a mobile; if you can find the code and templates to push this over to 'pedia, that'd be perfect - more invites to contribute here. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:02, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
