126.96.36.199, you are an ass. If you don't like something here, then log in, get a username and write a fucking article - otherwise, shut your hole.
This is a very funny article and it also juxtaposes the absurdity of international relations with Iran against the absurdity of a "psychic" octopus. The fact that the Iranian president even felt it necessary to make these comments reflects more on the dictatorial propaganda that flows from these regimes and how out of touch they are with any basic semblance of humanity than it does anything else. This is the sort of news that helps put the world and culture into perspective.
So, 188.8.131.52, just because you paid your internet bill this month, found a keyboard that works and have at least one finger to operate the keyboard with, doesn't mean you actually have anything worthwhile to say. You're just another piss ant who is so fucking sad and lonely that it will probably make your day that I'm feeding you at all.
In fact, This is what I'm going to do.
I'm going to head down to the lumber store and buy a 10' cubed block of wood. I'm then going to carve it into a giant, anatomically correct hand that's giving you the middle finger. Next, I'm going shave off all my pubic hair every Sunday morning and proceed to glue each and every last brown curly to the entire surface of the sculpture. After it's completely covered, a process that will take me years, I'm going to hand deliver this splintered, pubic-encrusted, ten foot tall statue to your home on a particularly hot and humid day, ring the bell and when you open the door, I'm going to tip the entire fucking thing over onto you. I'll then walk down your driveway, confident and self-satisfied with my efforts and when I reach your mailbox, I'll slowly turn around and smile as I watch you for awhile as you flail helplessly, like a newly born infant who has been abandoned in a sweaty, Portuguese Vaseline factory to free yourself from under the enormous pube-monolith that represents all my hatred. Then, once I've had my fill, I'll kick over your mailbox and go home.
This is how much I fucking hate you.
Good day, sir.
"We are after constructing Iran, but this does not mean viewing the matter from nationalist angle and singling out the Iranian race. Today the name of Iran is synonymous with prestige, justice seeking, monotheism, anti-despotism, and the entire blessed values that are dear for the world nations,"
:O Does Wikinews not have a civility policy?
That is seriously unacceptable from an experienced editor (or from any editor, for that matter), especially given such a minor comment.
BKCW8: As someone who's primarily a reader, I don't know how this community works– but let me assure you I was completely serious.
Actually, the first line alone is ridiculous, ignoring the sheer surreality of the rest of the tirade directed at an anonymous user who arguably did not deserve a single jot of his hate.
As far as I know, this site is for the readers, right? Attacking them for voicing an opinion about quality ain't going to help matters. If everyone who was ever dissatisfied with an article should either stop reading or "write a fucking article", guess which they're going to choose?
I apologise if I am unqualified to comment on this, or if this is the wrong place to do so.
Sonia: Just as a note, BKCW8's response shouldn't be taken as any sort of official opinion of wikinews.
As far as your original question goes, the post was in violation of Wikinews:Etiquette.
With that said, it can be annoying when people say something is crap, without explaining why. People work hard on the article contents, and well constructive criticism is always a good thing, negative comments without explaining why or suggestions for improvement aren't that helpful. However, it is still inappropriate to attack a reader for fulling out a "What do you think of this article form" honestly.
of the western media taking something Ahmadinejad said out of context, and getting hysterical about it. If you read the entire translation from Farsi, He was using Paul the Octopus metaphory to Illustrate the way that illogical arguments and frivolous obsessions have become a staple of western intellectual debate and criticism.
Wikinews ought to receive the Fox News gold star for shoddy journalism. This is the sort of article that would give Rupert Murdoch a wet dream.
I find that he is not so much criticizing Paul than the Spanish prime minister to offer protection to the octopus. The action, if taken seriously, is indeed ridiculous and unfit for a world leader. Certainly anyone can see Ahmadinejad's speech to be pure propaganda, but to take a single phrase out of context and put all the focus on it is biasing the readers, especially those who only read the title, to think Ahmadinejad is extremely stupid.
I screwed up. This was a bad call on my part. The only thing I can say is that it ticked me off (obviously). I know how much hard work we all put into what we do and when I read such a short, idiotic comment like that in response to a good piece of work that probably took not only a lot of time but also talent to put together, I just raged half from anger, half from defense for the people who work hard around here. But still, I'm in the wrong and it was a bad call. Won't happen again. I am sorry.
What did he do to deserve that? ;)
He should have chosen a real sign of Western decay like American Idol or Justin Bieber. :p
It's embarrasing for the iranian people to have such a leader, a man who takes a minor trifle like paul's football barracking into world politics. i mean 'what'?! why would you take some shanningans at a german zoo so seriously? what a dull totalitarian manequin. i guess the Islamics probably prefer to blow up their zoos, so they don't get chance to play with their animals much. lolz
Just because I know have a giuant golden statue of Paul in my prayer hall doesn't mean western society is decaying.
If we are decaying, The middle east has decayed...
Its a failed attempt for him to make his nation (which is falling apart after the Green revolution) to look superior then the rest of the world. Hopefully Paul can tell us when Iran will fall and a democratic and secular (PLEASE GOD!) Iran would rise in its place.--KDP3 (talk) 05:54, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
