These incidents come poorly timed for Qantas. They seem to be in the middle of a major advertising campaign in the US, promoting their longevity and safety record. --SVTCobra 22:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Qantas, like everyone else, have very tough decisions to make when buying aircraft. Ultimatly, in a tough market that's going to see a lot of collapses in the next few years, Boeing have the edge over Airbus etc. The Russian manufacturers - Sukhoi, Ilyushin - so far as I can see either produce shit or very reliavle aircraft, and it seems to stay the same with each model. So, they need to move in and produce something ceap, efficient and reliable. For some reason, they aren't. Lack of resources? Unlikely, I'm sure there's funding availible. Meantime, Boeing remain a risk worth taking. It can keep your airline from dying where others will... Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 11:40, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
