My thoughts
[edit]I am getting pretty fed up with these provocative flotillas, which basically sent aid to people who would gladly kill the infidel liberal Europeans, with no thought whatsoever for Sderot. I hope Israel stops it at sea, sells the ships to the highest bidding company, throws all the activists in jail, and gives all the aid to settlements in the West Bank. THAT will teach those bleeding heart terror-lovers that you DON'T MESS WITH THE JEWS!--Newscaster (talk) 03:56, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

The article alleges that "several dozen activists and seven Israeli commandos were wounded after armed activists attacked Israeli troops." While this position has been asserted by the IDF, It has been wholly contradicted by eyewitness testimony by the NGO's present on the flotilla. Also, To my knowledge it has not been confirmed by the evidence, or the video footage that has been released from the May 2010 incident. It would be prudent for credible, third party sources for this allegation to be referenced by Wikinews if this contentious statement is to stand.
This is propaganda disgusued as "news article." Oddly, there is no mention of the thousands of missles launched by Hamas at civilian targets inside Israel.....not to mention Hamas has repeatedly declared its desired "Destruction" of Israel. That's why they are npt at the Peace talks - Hamas has declared it does not want peace. Finally, Israel has allowed in medical and emergancy supplies all along, and has now expanded what it allows into Hamas for rebuilding and infrastructure. The "article" is careful in what facts are intentionally not mentioned.
What does Hamas have to do with civilian aid?
Regardless of the nobility of the efforts of these NGOs, it is naivete to believe Hamas will not make efforts to infiltrate all and any flotillas bringing supplies into Gaza, especially as the fleet size increases. I don't think the original poster was overly concerned about that fact, but as the standing legitimate government of Gaza, they are nonetheless a player in the movement of civilian aid. One can look at the actions of similar tyrannical governments in East Africa (Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia) that have long histories of seizing foreign aid goods for their own purposes. I'm doing my best to be non-judgmental here, but I think it's myopic to look at this as being strictly a showdown between NGOs and Israel.
I'm not saying it wouldn't be better to expand to include the politics behind this; my intention was to say that not including this extra dimension doesn't (necessarily) mean a POV problem. But, as you pointed out, I buggered up saying it.
Israel has no concept of aid. Remember when they precision-bombed a pair of Red Cross ambulances? Hamas are essentially as nasty, the only difference is in terms of money and hardware. It's tempting to say an international force should 'bang their heads together' for both are viable targets for a war. But, realistically, will that bring any benefit to the public of either?
