Chose one option: a) the earth outlasts the human race, or b) the human race outlasts the earth. I prefer the later, the with space travel the ultimate expression of human freedom. The end of the earth is not near, but is ultimately inexorable. When it happens, let it not be the end, but the beginning.

Yes. Keeping in mind, we have to last long enough to get there. So we've crises to attend to here, in the meantime; and we have to consider what sort of people we want to be by the time we get there.
