- I was going here because I wanted to say my judgement now is that managing to contain the illness is the less likely outcome - so I have to disagree with your opinion above: If people let themselves be scared by news like this beyond the appropriate response, that's unfortunate. I think the closest comparison might be made with the following: w:Severe_acute_respiratory_syndrome - which obviously did not result in a pandemic.
