Left out stuff about the witness and what she said (see opinions): that they only have random "wand" checks at the school, and no metal detectors (according to KNX News Radio, Los Angeles).
After hearing what one of the witnesses said today, 18 Jan 2011, on the local radio here in L.A.: KNX News Radio; I felt as though by the way she said it, that she was kinda covering for the guy with the gun. But for certain I'm sure several people at all times are bringing guns to that school; it's just this poor sot got "caught with the goods" when his gun "accidentally" fell out of his napsack. Support: the witness said herself that they have no metal detectors at the school other than random "wand" checks; and well, you and I know what that ends up becoming: security guards shirking their jobs by "wanding" people they know for sure never carry any weapons at all.
Oops; today's date is 19 Jan 2011, my bad. I think maybe I should also say that way down there has always been rather notorious, so I'm not surprised this sort of thing happened: an "accidental" shooting with a friend or casual aquaintance attempting to cover for the shooter. (You know: Marilyn Monroe and that Black Daliah both came from down that way).
