John Kenneth Galbraith, the Canadian-born US economist, died in hospital yesterday 29 April 2006 in Cambridge, Massachusetts following a short illness. He was 97.
He wrote numerous books including The Affluent Society in 1958. He taught at Harvard from 1948 to 1975 and served as ambassador to India under President John F. Kennedy.
