Adrian Aucoin scored a power play goal first for Calgary 1:51 into the first period. Jonathan Toews put the Blackhawks on the board with a power play goal later in the first. In the second, Jarome Iginla scored an unassisted goal to put the Flames up by 1. Kristian Huselius gave Calgary a two goal lead a few minutes later, then Dion Phaneuf scored his 15th of the season to give the Flames a 3 goal lead. Robert Lang added a goal for the Blackhawks in the third period.

Evgeni Malkin scored the first goal of the game for the Penguins 4:33 into the first period. A few minutes later, Petr Sykora put Pittsburgh up by 2 goals. Tyler Kennedy scored his tenth goal of the season, making it 3-0 Penguins. Mike Knuble put the Flyers on the scoreboard 12:43 into the second, but a few minutes later, Malkin scored his second of the night. Marian Hossa scored his first goal as a Penguin 31 seconds after that. In the third period, Sykora scored his second of the night, then Hal Gill scored his third of the season, giving Pittsburgh a 6 goal lead they would hold through the rest of the game. Malkin and Sykora each had 4 points total. Pascal Dupuis had 3 assists for the Penguins.

Sergei Fedorov broke a scoreless tie with 1:18 left in the first period. Chuck Kobasew tied the score at 1-1 about halfway through the second period. The score remained tie through the rest of the game, forcing a shootout. Alex Semin and Viktor Kozlov each scored for Washington, while Boston was stopped on each of their shootout attempts.

Dany Heatley scored the only goal for Ottawa early in the first period on a Senators power play. Patrick Eaves tied the score a few minutes later with a power play goal for the Hurricanes. Joseph Corvo also scored a power play goal for Carolina in the first period, giving them the lead. Scott Walker scored in the second period for Carolina. In the third period, Corvo completed the hat trick, first with a power play goal 2:09 into the third, then again with 3:10 remaining in the game. Eric Staal had three assists for Carolina.

Manny Malhotra scored first for Columbus 3:23 into the first period. Ole-Kristian Tollefsen gave the Blue Jackets a 2 goal lead over Detroit 6:07 into the second period. Just 1:12 later, Malhotra made it a three goal game with his second of the night. Tomas Kopecky put the Red Wings on the board just under halfway through the second period. Nikolai Zherdev scored for Columbus putting them back up by 3. Johan Franzen scored a pair of power play goals to bring the Red Wings within 1, but that 1 goal lead would turn out to be enough for the Blue Jackets. Malhotra also assisted in Zherdev's goal in the second period.

Radek Dvorak scored first for Florida 2:07 into the first period. Olli Jokinen scored his 32nd goal of the season later in the first, putting the Panthers ahead by 2. Ilya Kovalchuk scored his 49th of the season to put the Thrashers on the board and cut Florida's lead in half. Rostislav Olesz scored a power play goal 17 seconds into the third, putting the Panthers up by 2 again.

Patrick Marleau scored a power play goal with 3:05 left in the first period. Ales Hemsky tied the score 14:06 into the second period. The score remained tied to force overtime, and eventually a shootout. Robert Nilsson scored the first shootout goal for the Oilers in round 1, and Marleau tied it up in round three for San Jose. Fernando Pisani scored in the fourth round, giving the Oilers the win, and snapping San Jose's 11 game winning streak.

Player of the Day

Today's Player of the Day is Joe Corvo of the Carolina Hurricanes. Corvo faced his former team, the Ottawa Senators, and scored a hat trick in Carolina's 5-1 win over the Senators.
