Two recorders[edit]
I have read the correction proposed, as well as several news articles from around the time.
I am confused as to whether the voice or data recorder was found, or both.
Is there any way to resolve that?

- Reading just this article, the data recorder came out of the wreckage on the Saturday and the voice recorder was recovered on the Monday. - Thanks, and thanks. Sometimes I can write clear prose, and sometimes I write nothing but gobbledygook. As far as fact checking is concerned, I tried to check it at the time, as well as yesterday, and never made sense of it, though since it seems both recorders were eventually recovered, I don't think it matters any more.
- By the way, I noticed a claim in Wikipedia that the first flight recorders recorded both voice and instrument data on the same wire, but I chose not to complicate the correction further with something that seems to be of historical interest only.
- I wonder if there may may be a small amount of the most important data recorded onto the voice recorder as an insurance policy - attitude/pitch/yaw, location, control column inputs, rudder pedal inputs, throttles, one or two other things. That would create vast amounts of confusion since the primary purposes of each recorder steers away from the other's function. The regulations do not actually state that they must be separate (either international or in most - all? - local jurisdictions). There is such a thing as a (takes deep breath) Combined Flight Data and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CFDCVR). I have only encountered one accident or incident report mentioning one; I forget which mishap it involved. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 09:40, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
