Time references[edit]

There are time references in this article. Australia has three main time zones. To which one does this article refer? Also, if you please, can you put it relative to UTC, as in UTC+/-X? Cheers. --SVTCobra 02:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Um, it refers to the time here, where I am. It's currently lunchtime. :-) Okay, I've added the timezone and UTC offset -- please check to make sure it looks okay. - Borofkin 02:24, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was Canberra time or Sydney time, since the source was a Sydney paper and the gov't is in Canberra. Cheers, --SVTCobra 02:34, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

POV[edit]

Hmmm, this article needs a bit of work. As it stands it seems to be primarily about how certain members of the opposition are having issues with the whole process, and about Tony Abbott's belief that John Howard was the best thing ever for Indigenes, both ideas being held by a minority of Australians. Most Australians are seeing today as the first step in getting a Fair Go for the shattered remains of a once proud race. Shouldn.t this article be about how the Government is keeping an Election promise, about how many aboriginals are very positive about this, and how the whole issue of compensation is still unresolved. A link to the "Bringing them home" Royal Commission Report seems appropriate as well. 124.179.150.41 20:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, there is probably more support for the apology than is represented in this article. You are welcome to add quotes from people supporting the apology, or jump in and help out with today's article (Australian parliament apologises to the Stolen Generations). Regarding a link to the Royal Commission report, remember that this article isn't a history of the apology issue, it is a report on the situation the day before the formal apology. A bit of background couldn't hurt, but the focus is what is happening now. - Borofkin - (talk) 00:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
