I thought it had to go through the Senate and Governor-General before it was fully legal. I'm not in on Candanian law, can someone explain this? Thanx 68.39.174.150 29 June 2005 10:37 (UTC)

The article does say it must go through the Senate and the Governor-General before it is law. At the current time the Liberal party holds a majority in the Senate, and usually the Governor-General follows the majority decision of the House of Commons. It is possible that one of these stages might not fall as expected, but it is considered unlikely here in Vancouver. - Amgine/talk 29 June 2005 10:41 (UTC)
  • Amgine's right; the Liberal Canadian Senate is fully onboard

and the Governor-General in Canada is a rubber stamp personified. This is a done deal; American gays are already swamping into Canada to get married.Paulrevere2005 29 June 2005 11:54 (UTC)
