Well, take a look at this map:

http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=48.997951,-123.077817&spn=0.021286,0.031328&t=k&hl=en

that shows how someone could walk across the border several times in one day; possibly not even noticing it. Take a look at the map view also, to see where it is.

Point Roberts...[edit]

There is no way to "accidentally" walk across that border without knowing it at Point Roberts. If you expand that map one notch you can see the marina where my boat is moored... There used to be several streets crossing the border, linking the US community to the neighborhoods of Tsawassen, but they are now all closed by cement blockades, even the sidewalks. Still, there are trails through the grass which show people are choosing to circumvent the border crossing (which is very pedestrian/bicycle unfriendly, as I know from experience) - but every inch of that border is covered by multiple security cameras and I've been told that non-locals are almost immediately picked up if they try it.
