If this happened on August 13, 2005 why do we have it as a news story on December 29, 2006? Mac Davis 22:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It occurred in August 2005 but was only recently detected on satellite images. (BBC) --Naught101 02:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
What is 11,000 football fields? American football or the international game? Shushruth 05:12, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

where??

[edit]

without a diagram its impossible to tell where this happened.

Football fields

[edit]

Not a good idea of size: see this comment.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 17:28, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

i came to this discussion page precisely about this. 11,000 football fields is lousy as a comparison of size. I see that the French WN article mentions it "larger than Manhattan island"; that's much better. Jerome Potts 06:42, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Global Warming

[edit]

Only one scientist in the four articles sites claims that "Global Warming" played a major role in the event, the others basically say that it is hard to tie this to any single cause and the one that did use the term "major" also said, "We aren't able to connect all of the dots...":

  • "It's hard to tie one event to climate change..."
  • "The researchers suspect climate change may have played a role...cannot definitively say it is a result of global warming."

It really should be changed to One lone scientist claimed that although he "wasn't able to connect all of the dots" he still claimed that "global warming has played a "major" role in the break."

How about some NPOV? -- Sgartner 09:47, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category - Arctic

[edit]

Would like to add the [[Category:Arctic]] category to a number of arctic related news articles to begin a wikinews Arctic portal to complement and support the Wikipedia Arctic portal and wikiproject.
