In Japan Temple earnings are taxfree and hence it is a big business. And so often the priests are rich and influential people. This is in stark contrast with the principles of Buddhism which believe in giving up everything to lead a peaceful life. Buddha would surely feel sad to see these unscrupulous guys who claim to be the custodians of his religious beliefs. --Rogerp 18:21, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
