Archiving
[edit]Please do not add the archive tag unless the archive conventions (WN:ARCHIVE) have been followed and appropriate edits made. --SVTCobra 14:08, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- thanks for the remainder. i'm sort of aware of the conventions and think i'm following them in this series of edits. if you spot me missing something, feel free to point out or fix. reg,–Doldrums(talk) 14:13, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: ArbCom nominations
[edit]Sure, thank you, although I haven't seen any need for it since I've been around, I think the wikinewsies deserve a lot of choice and I've been around for some time now so I'm interested what people think of me as well :-D . --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 21:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Have a look at Wikinews:Arbitration_Committee/Elections_January_2008#User:Doldrums. I don't really have the time or the patience to ask you first, so I just boldly nominated you. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 22:14, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Some say that the terms were extended and that we shouldn't be having elections now. Please see WN:AAA#Wikinews:Arbitration Committee. Cheers, --SVTCobra 00:47, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much...
[edit]...for the pleasant and rather helpful welcome :) Dylansmrjones 17:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Could you take a look?

tabbed navigation
[edit]what's the likelihood of setting up tabbed navigation (such as [1])? –Doldrums(talk) 15:17, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Quite easy. I believe user:Darklama has code for something similiar on wikibooks (I'll look into that). Alternatively we could probably easily adapt the link you provided as well. Bawolff ☺☻ 22:19, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've got a tab demo (using DarkLama's version of the wikibooks main page) set up at User:Bawolff/sandbox/tabs, but I still need to intergrate it more with wiki-syntax (==heading==should make a tab, etc) as well as make it look more monobooky. Bawolff ☺☻ 09:12, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Note: the js is currently at user:Bawolff/tabber.js, not mediawiki:NavigationTabs.js. (the mediawiki ns one is darklama's tabbing system, which is slightly different). I added the js to MediaWiki:Common.js/User:Doldrums/Main page so that it would load for anyone who views user:Doldrums/Main page. Bawolff ☺☻ 20:49, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks
[edit]Thanks for the welcome message. I am here mainly because I edit on wikipedia (have done so for 11 and a half months). Thanks HarrisonB 07:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I know...
[edit]I know, it was for a joke in the irc - I like zach - I was illustrating defamation to someone :) Symode09 12:03, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Main Page design
[edit]Not sure what your thoughts on the new top half of the front page are, but I'd like to see your tabbed bottom half added to it. This would lose the latest news section, so I suggest making the main lead a front tab with latest behind it. |Lead|Latest News| style.
Is the tabbing something that the new parser is needed for? Do you know if it can be done per-wiki so we could get a new look faster? --Brian McNeil / talk 10:57, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- the tabs don't need the new parser. it's just javascript and we only need to add User:Bawolff/tabber.js to the site scripts. i'm not so sure about the idea of hiding away latest news behind the lead but that shldn't stop you from trying it out :) –Doldrums(talk) 11:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- reg. tab-ing latest news, i feel people who come to a news website shldn't have to click a button to read the latest news. –Doldrums(talk) 11:49, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thank you for reverting the vandalism on my user page, much appreciated. I mostly created this account as a way of stopping vandals taking it, didn't expect to get vandalised. Thanks--Jac16888 - (talk) 17:07, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Template
[edit]Thanks for your comments re Major Alan G. Rogers. Since I'm more familiar with wikipedia's style and rules, I am writing to ask if you know of a good style template for news articles that would work well with Wikinews. The {source} format threw me for a loop last night, and the way the cites come through, it's a bit of a mess right now. I guess it's better, on Wikinews, to put all the references at the end of the article? Your assistance on this matter is greatly appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robapalooza (talk • contribs) 14:16, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Aware
[edit]I am aware of all that. I lifted Wikipedias article which is copyright free and reordered it so it was less of a press release. Some bits had been rewritten and and not a violation.--Irate - (talk) 15:26, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I have started WN:TO-DO as a place to list what should be daily or weekly points to check for regular contributors. Some parts are admin-only (e.g. Archiving) but others are things that anyone can get involved with. Feel free to add additional points and spread the word about this shortcut to get people helping do Wikignome tasks. --Brian McNeil / talk 15:54, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
2008 Arbitration Committee elections
[edit]I have nominated you for the Arbitration Committee. Please see Wikinews:Arbitration Committee/Elections July 2008 and if you wish to, accept the nomination and then provide a brief statement. Thank you, Cirt (talk) 21:11, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
FlaggedRevs
[edit]If you have not already seen this, please look, comment, and vote both here and on bugzilla. Further assistance such as contact information for Google would be a very useful detail to share and help in petitioning for a listing in their news index. --Brian McNeil / talk 14:51, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
You have been put up for desysoping due to inactivity
[edit]Hi Doldrums, just as a heads-up, you have been put up for deadminship based on your recent inactivity. If you wish to comment on this, please leave a message here. Thanks, Tempodivalse [talk] 01:57, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Inactivity - Permissions removed
[edit]Since you were inactive on Wikinews, we removed your account bits (Administrator, Reviewer). If you become re-active and would like your bits back, simply ask as 'Crat. Thank you. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 18:15, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
