Is it common to editorialize on the news item in a discussion section? Such a habit is an endless task. Time you all spend doing this could be better spent suggesting ways to extend the scope of the article... possibly locating commentary on the state of the defendants' cases. --69.204.213.30 02:50, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions[edit]

It does look like a staged event..what used to be called a "happening"..but in this brave new world there is little room for any type of "demonstration"..only our government leaders are allowed to make threats or threatening gestures. This type of moron just plays into the hands of the security merchants who want as many players on the enemy side as they can find; whether they be real(?) or perceived(Iraq). If, in PaulRevere2005's words, this "moron" considers his act a 'demonstration', will the rest of the world agree that it was not an act of 'terrorism'? Doubtful. -Edbrown05 16:07, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • agreed; once the atmosphere has become so adversarial and truly dangerous, the parameters of "dissent" are shrunk. Remember,Jane Fonda actually visited, supported and met with Ho Chi Minh and sat on a N.Vietnamese cannon for photos..and came back to America to freely continue her freedoms of association and speech. I doubt that would be allowed today...can you imagine someone like Sean Penn meeting with Osama and posing for photos at a terrorist training camp ; and returning home to receive an academy award?(they shoot horses don't they) Truly the war mongers(Bush and Osama) and crusade promoters(Bush and Osama) are in the drivers' seats...so we may as well just sit back, buckle up, and yell like hell as we go around the scary ride...and if we have a few drinks or joints along the way, it can't hurt. You are all a bunch of liberal fools, grow up, children. ||<-- go back to sleep prick, wake up an adult

POV?[edit]

His intention may have simply been to draw attention to the war in Iraq. - This statement needs some clarification else it looks like we're making his case for him. Has he * said * he was drawing attention to the war in Iraq, has someone else suggested that was his intention? We can't make an original conclusion like that, especially with a POV word like 'simply', which I'm going to take out, but if someone can make it stronger that would be better.
