Statements on website

[edit]

Since no direct links to the AVO statements are around, I will add the AVO ones from their site:

  • 2009-04-04 12:03:28
The AVO web cam continues to show a plume of mostly water vapor, gas, and likely small amounts of ash rising above Redoubt to about 15,000 feet. This plume is drifting southeast. The Mt. Redoubt alert level remains WARNING and aviation color code remains RED. An AVO field crew is en route to the volcano via helicopter. A fixed wing flight will depart early this afternoon to attempt gas measurements. We have received no additional reports of ash fall.

The significant explosive event at 06:00 AKDT has ended. Continuing seismic activity and web camera images indicate that low level emissions of steam, gas, and some volcanic ash are continuing to be emitted at the volcano at altitudes of < 20,000'. Ashfall resulting from the 06:00 AKDT event has been reported in Homer, Anchor Point, and Seldovia. The Mt. Redoubt alert level is currently WARNING and aviation color code is RED.

The Mt. Redoubt alert level is currently WARNING and aviation color code is RED. At 06:00 AKDT there was a significant explosive event at Redoubt. An ash cloud has reached at least 50,000 feet above sea level and is heading SE. The National Weather Service has issued an ash advisory lasting to 10am AKDT for areas from south of Ninilchik. Lightning was observed in the eruption cloud and AVO seismometers indicate a lahar in the Drift River Valley. Strong, but diminishing seismic activity is continuing as of 07:35 AKDT. DPRK event?

[edit]

The explosion possibly coincides with the flight of a north korean ballistic missile, maybe it impacted the volcano? That would mean war, allowing USA to kick some commie ass... Better excuse than the yellow cake uranium fake story was for Iraq in 2003! 91.83.0.11 08:28, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
