When?[edit]

This story covers Who, What, Where, and How but not When, which is pretty important in news reporting. --SVTCobra 22:49, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Well nothing directly says. But i would assume on April 15 or 14. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 22:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hoax?[edit]

Googling the proper names "Jens Wilhelms" and "Manfred Vonhausen" that are in this story do not turn up many hits regarding this. In fact, the only other thing I found was this rather useless Daily Record stub. I think this is possibly, nay probably, a hoax. Otherwise it would have been more widely reported and included a date. --SVTCobra 23:08, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I heard this on the radio this morning. WYRK Buffalo during the news segment. That is what got me to write the article. Is there any evidence to suggest it is a hoax? DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 23:30, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
No, not other than what I mentioned above. I checked at Snopes and they are not covering it yet. The lack of "when" is however a huge tell in hoax stories. News outlets read eachother and feed upon eachother and each time it is retold or republished it only adds credibility to a story that may have been made-up. --SVTCobra 01:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
And now some sites that mirror Wikinews will begin to carry it. So when others do "fact checking", they will only find even more stories. Before long it will be all over the interwebs and "Jens Wilhelms" will be wondering why people know his name. --SVTCobra 01:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
See this: Yahoo News as reported by the Associated Press. Link in German, but I did read it in google translate. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
That's a great find! I can agree to that, though the days/dates you state do not agree, but I will tidy those ... yes, I can read German too, but I can't explain that one through family relations like the Norwegian of yesterday. --SVTCobra 01:40, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
I see you fixed that, too. I will add some times. --SVTCobra 01:42, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Alas, it seems police reported it Monday but he fell Sunday ... but I made the change. Cheers, --SVTCobra 01:50, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
I had to look at sources in german to find that. LOL was not easy. But is weird the lack of sources indeed. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:43, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: possible hoax[edit]

Searching "frankfurt mann aufzugsschacht" does come up with results (I found the lack of German sources weird) but I don't know about the credibility of any of those news sources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.157.207.33 (talk) 00:11, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
