Per the OED (the real one, not the modern thing), the word venomous has had 'containing poison' as one of its meanings for about seven centuries; see also wikt:venomous, and note that one of the cited sources for this article uses the term this way. Although I would tend to use the terms as you describe, the usage in the article clearly isn't "wrong". --Pi zero (talk) 04:40, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
