Talk:Russian court fines Google more money than the world's entire GDP
Add topicGoogle's response
[edit]There does seem to be a response from Google[1] that we should report on for WN:NPOV. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 16:09, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

Edit for clarity
[edit]The seventh paragraph reads: "YouTube froze its accounts following the sanctions by the United States on Russian Invasion of Ukraine in 2022, which impacted its subsidiary at Russia in bankruptcy and paused its commercial operations."
The local (Russian) YouTube is the subsidiary. It's a local subsidiary of Google.
I'm not sure what is meant by "YouTube froze its accounts..." Is that a reference to the halting of commercial operations in Russia, as reported by the BBC?
Please update that paragraph for clarity.
I have not removed the article from the review queue in case another reviewer feels it is publishable as-is or by removing the paragraph entirely. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 16:05, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Michael.C.Wright, I will review this in a moment. CSM.in (talk) 16:07, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes @Michael.C.Wright, it's a reference to the halting of commercial operations in Russia. And I made the corrections. Pls see. CSM.in (talk) 16:12, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Revision 4803739 of this article has been reviewed by Michael.C.Wright (talk · contribs) and has passed its review at 17:34, 3 November 2024 (UTC).
Comments by reviewer: I updated the seventh paragraph per the talk page to make it more clear. Be careful when using quotes provided by other news agencies. Our style guide calls for square brackets for clarifying statements in quotes; Wikinews:Style_guide#Quotes. Also remember to define or clarify acronyms used, such as TASS. The reviewed revision should automatically have been edited by removing {{Review}} and adding {{Publish}} at the bottom, and the edit sighted; if this did not happen, it may be done manually by a reviewer. |

Date / Amount
[edit]Hey guys,
According to RT this is a fine which was issued back in 2022, for 100.000 rubles (a thousand dollars), but have reached this amount due to penalties for non-compliance.
If you can, check out the article through a VPN (or get Opera and set its "VPN" to Asia).
TASS wrote that according to the Washington Post, the amount now have surpassed the global GDP. - Xbspiro (talk) 13:52, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- I can see the RT source since it is active in India. It seems to need a little change. CSM.in (talk) 14:06, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Correction issued
[edit]I have issued a correction. Xbspiro identified in this diff that I had the wrong full name of TASS (I should have caught the 'Soviet Union' in the name).
The correction should be checked and sighted by another reviewer.
Thanks and sorry for the forced correction. —Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 17:53, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
