cause of deaths / injuries

To me, the article sounds like that the deaths and injuries were caused by the stampede rather than by the bombs (based on British newspaper reports). However, reporting by Kenyan newspapers (e.g. here) make it sound like injuries were due to shrapnel from the bombs. PETROL BOMBS have no shrapnel, it is just another word for a Molotov cocktail.
