Isn't it the Marines who carry out presidential flights? Even the title of the article refers to it, "Marine One". This [1] NY Times Article states that "The Pentagon" made the contract. Technically, the Marines are part of the Department of the Navy, which is part of the Department of Defense (if I recall that right). Still, I think the title "US Navy choses US-Europe US101 helicopter to be next Marine One" is wrong and should actually read something like "US Marines/US Marine Corps/US Department of Defense/Pentagon choses US-Europe US101 helicopter to be next Marine One" - --flo_p 13:51, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The US Navy was the body that ran the competition and made the selection. The US Marine Corps operates the aircraft, but collaborates with the US Navy on many things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.249.47.11 (talk) 18:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The USMC is administatively within the Navy, though sometimes though of as a separate branch. --SVTCobra 19:04, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
