Talk:US accused of sinking The Pirate Bay
Add topicI can sure tell that there is alot of talking about 'the Americans' (USians) as the force behinde the raid. Many Swedes remember the incident some year ago when US pushed Sweden to act against a $cientology critic who published 'secret stuff'... international 01:26, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I lookt att sources and saw a part of the news on SVT (Swedish TV). It seem quite clear that Thomas Bodström, justice minister is deep involved and already reported for reviewing by Konstitutionsutskottet, Parliamentary Committee on the Constitution. I link the news in swedish tv international 01:48, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Spelling.
[edit]Shouldn't it read "...sank the Pirate Bay"? Nathanrdotcom 01:30, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
alt first part/material to work with
[edit]According to the Swedish newschannel Rapport it was US Govement who was behind the raid on Pirate Bay. It was a case of successfull lobbying by KPAA that made US contact Swedish police and department of justice. After the meeting on high level Thomas Bodström, minister of justice, asked the department of justice and the police to act. Dan Eliasson, minister of justice:s state secretary, acted and talked to the the General Prosecutor and the National Police Commissioner who ordered the raid. This was made despite the court situation situation was unclear.
The allegations is dismissed by Swedish Govement and by Dan Eliasson who deny all contact of this kind.
- "”USA:s regering låg bakom fildelarrazzia”" — SR, june 1, 2006
An autotranslation:
” USA: s government lay behind fildelarrazzia”
The each USA: s government as low behind razzian against fildelarsidan The Pirate Bay on Wednesday. The states Sweden's Televisions report. Small businesses losers in fildelartillslaget
American authorities took in April up the question with representatives for the Swedish justitiedepartementet and the police. The have happened on request of Hollywoods special interest organisation MPAA.
After the meeting asked justitiedepartementet police and prosecutors to act.
When the replied that the court situation each unclear, will the Minister for Justice's State Secretaries have turned themselves to the Prosecutor-General and the National Police Commissioner, that gave order about an intervening, states report.
The assertions are repudiated of the government. Dan Eliasson, State Secretaries on justitiedepartementet orders the echo that the has not occurred some as entire pc contacts of that kind.
Also the National Police Commissioner Stefan Strömberg says that the assertion that the police taken order of the government is incorrect.

Cleaned up
[edit]I have done some cleaning on the article as well as changed the title to "US accused of sinking The Pirate Bay". Please let me know if there are still issues. It really is a great article, kudos to its author - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 05:11, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think it is pretty ok, thanks for fixing it. Because it is pretty idle with edits I will change mode from dev to publish. 130.234.200.110 09:00, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
False statement?
[edit]Has the web site of Antipiratbyrån (The Anti Piracy Bureau) really been hacked? Their page, which can be found at http://www.antipiratbyran.com, seems to be instact. Other adresses like http://www.antipiratbyran.se have, as far as I am concerned, no connection with Antipiratbyrån.
- You might be right. I removed that part. Feel free to edit yourself if you like. Its Wiki ;) international 11:00, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Antipiratbyrån's site was hacked last year. Source: [1] (Swedish). But I don't know anything about it being hacked now. /217.208.220.8 15:04, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Swedish police web site attacked, possibly in retaliation of TPB raid
[edit]And the Swedish national police site is still down (since last night) due to repeated DoS attacks, just a day after the police raided piratebay.org, seized all their servers as well as all other servers in the same storage area (including shutting down 10-20 commercial companies whose web sites went offline).
Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice (Attorney General [US]) of Sweden, Thomas Bodström, is facing a hearing in front of a committee for his alleged involvement in shutting the site down as a direct result of a request from MPAA and US authorities.
There is currently a voting going on with largest Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet (The Evning Post), on whether the pirate bay site or the national police's site will be up and running first. So far, 25,000 people have voted, and 93% think that Pirate Bay will be operational first.
