Lead material?[edit]

This has a brief tag on the bottom, who thought that merited lead material? --Brian McNeil / talk 20:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Steven by the looks of things. Have to agree with you it's not really lead material. --MarkTalk 20:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When I checked it was the lead on BBC News and Google News, although the article was a stub. There wasn't really an alternative. Feel free to revert me anytime.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 21:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't revert, the article has developed nicely. The point I may have been trying to make is that this went on a lead about one or two hours before it should have. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:51, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please indicate which news source actually saw that Jamaat-e-Islami was directly involved with the incident on the half that supported Chaudhry, instead of "students and lawyers" as CNN indicates on its main article. I looked into all of the references cited and could nto find discussion of JI anywhere. I want to be hesitant as it seems news sources today like linking everything to terrorism, and this could be more simple than that. Chantoke 22:27, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just had a look, Chantoke, and found it in the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (Monsters and Critics) article. Second paragraph: "News reports described the scene as a 'battleground' as armed workers of the pro-government party Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) clashed with activists of the oppositional Jamaat-i-Islami religious party, the Geo news channel reported.". Hope this helps. -Jcart1534 23:00, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
