Template:Delete/doc

From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!

Usage

[edit]

Use this template to request speedy deletion of a page on Wikinews. Type {{delete|<reason>}} to nominate it for deletion. For controversial requests, use WN:DR or WN:PROD.

Parameters

[edit]

This template accepts certain parameters. You're requested to use them wherever possible, in order to maintain a standardised message.

no content No meaningful content or history/patent nonsense/Not news (CSD A1) edit
test page Test page (CSD A2)

What does this mean? Although it is possible to edit almost any page, creating pages solely for testing is frowned upon. As it isn't news, they'll be deleted from article-space. If you want to test MediaWiki's edit interface, please use the Sandbox, or your user page.

edit
vandalism Pure vandalism (CSD A3) edit
short article Very short article with no context (CSD A4)

What does this mean? Thank you for contributing to Wikinews. However, this article has a problem: we're not sure what it is about, or it is too short to be meaningful. Don't worry, it's easily fixable: why not do us a favour by expanding the article a bit more, adding a bit more context as to what the article is about?

edit
paste Clean up of cut/paste move (CSD A5)

What does this mean? Due to licencing issues, pages on Wikinews must be attributed. All pages on Wikinews (including this one) have a list of all edits made by users. Copy/pasting articles disassociates the history page from its article, and is discouraged. Instead, everyone who has an account that is older than four days can move articles whilst keeping the history page intact. If your account isn't old enough, don't worry. Just leave a note on this page and someone will help you.

edit
spam Advertising or spam (CSD A6) edit
author Author request (CSD A7) edit
hoax Obvious hoax or other work of fiction (CSD A8) edit
undelete Recreation of deleted content (CSD A9)

What does this mean? Pages on Wikinews are sometimes deleted by due process. It is bad practice to recreate an article that was previously deleted; if you think the previous deletion is wrong, you should follow the undeletion procedure so that previous page histories are preserved.

edit
not english Article is not in English. The author may wish to look for another language project more suitable. (CSD A10)

What does this mean? This is English-language Wikinews, and so we only can accept articles written in English, but Wikinews has projects in many languages. You may be more suited to contribute at a different language project; to start an article in another language, select one below:

العربية · български · bosanski · català · čeština · Deutsch · Esperanto · español · فارسی · suomi · français · עברית · italiano · 日本語 · 한국어 · norsk · polski · português · română · русский · српски / srpski · தமிழ் · ไทย · Türkçe · українська · 中文

edit
copyvio Obvious copyright violation. Consider using {{copyvio}} instead of this template. (CSD A11) edit
out of scope Out of project scope (CSD A12)

What does this mean? Wikinews is primarily an online news source. As such, articles that are not obviously news, or would be more suited to a sister project (such as Wikipedia), may be deleted. Please edit this page into something more like a news article.

edit
broken redirect Redirect to non-existent page (CSD R1) edit
wrong namespace Unsuppressed redirect following article → user namespace transition (CSD R2) edit
typo Redirect resulting from a typographical error in headline (CSD R3) edit
vand redir Redirect created by move vandalism (CSD R4) edit
fair use The image contravenes the project fair use policy. (CSD I1)

The reason stated above only applies to images, but this tag has not been placed on an image page. Please check carefully before deleting.

edit
redundant Image is redundant to another image on Wikinews or Wikimedia Commons (CSD I2) edit
unused Unused fair use image (CSD I3) edit
userpage Request for userpage deletion by user (CSD G1) edit
talk Talk or comment page of deleted article (CSD G2) edit
ip No longer relevant talk page of an anonymous user (CSD G3) edit
empty Empty category (CSD G4) edit
retired Deletion of user page by request of user (CSD G5) edit
unpublished Comments page of unpublished article (CSD G6) edit
