I don't support this modifcation. It implies that a person must be accredited to do original reporting, which isn't true. We accept unnacredited reporters as sources all the time. My understanding of accreditation was that it was for those outside Wikinews to verify a persons identity. - Borofkin 02:05, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is, an accredited Wikinews reporter doesn't need to cite sources. Otherwise, the policy of 'stories must be sourced' stands. -Edbrown05 02:14, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All articles must be sourced -- original reporting must include OR notes on the talk page whether or not the wikinewsie is accredited. --Chiacomo (talk) 02:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, um, is there agreement that I should remove the line "and be aware that Wikinews does support the publication of unsourced stories from its list of accredited reporters." from this template? - Borofkin 02:48, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Removing the line completely doesn't do much to clarify in the mind of the contributor what the possibilities are here at Wikinews. -Edbrown05 03:03, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, but we don't want to make it too confusing. The template requests that they place original reporting notes on the article talk page, and refers them to Wikinews:cite sources and Wikinews:Original reporting for further information. I think this is enough - it tells them what the next step is, and points them in the direction of relevant policy. - Borofkin 03:09, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I also find that line confusing.Bawolff ☺☻ 06:03, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
