I'd love to be able to implement all infoboxen through {{infobox}}, which has the advantage that the template itself is fully protected and filters the content of an unprotected customization page. Atm, though, {{infobox}} wouldn't be able to handle this since it only knows how to deal with a single category at a time. (Another generalization that could occasionally be useful would be to provide a horizontal mode, but presumably that would be a lower-priority upgrade since we rarely use horizontal infoboxen.) --Pi zero (talk) 16:14, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

@Pi zero: This userbox's close sister, {{aviation mishaps}}, could be converted in that way as it could use the aviation accidents and incidents cat for populating itself.
