Past and potential pandemics

Presenting the death figures as they've been presented on this and the Avian Flu infobox -- Spanish Flu 50 million etc, finished with 2009 swine flu and whatever the current total is -- is sensationalist. Why? Firstly, because it treats the current outbreak of H1N1 as if it were already comparable to those pandemics; secondly, because the number of deaths attributable to the current outbreak is completely unreliable and the given value of 157 is irresponsibly inflated from the number of confirmed deaths. --Killing Vector (talk) 13:21, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok I will agree with the death toll figures of swine flu, but I don't agree that it is sensationalist. For one, if we are to say this is sensationalist, we can easily say the exact same thing for Avian flu as it never turned into anything. It was more a media hype than anything. I agree with Vector, it does seem a bit "sensationalistic", so to speak, and not completely appropriate (in my opinion). I'd like to revert to the other revision, but I want to avoid edit warring, so I think I'll hold off making any changes until we can see which version is more preferred.
