US Chief Justice candidate John Roberts' nomination goes to full Senate

Saturday, September 24, 2005Senate Judiciary Committee confirmed Supreme Court Chief Justice candidate John Roberts in a vote of 13–5 on September 22. The Senate is expected to hold hearings on Monday before a having a full vote later in the week. The five members who voted No on Roberts were Senators Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, Diane Feinstein, Charles Schumer, and Richard Durbin. The thirteen members who voted Yes were the Republicans in the committee as well as Democrats Patrick Leahy, Herb Kohl, and Russ Feingold. It is likely that the Senate will confirm Roberts to the Supreme Court.
