It is not always clear how many editors actively edit English Wikinews.
Please add your name to the relevant section so that we can see how many active editors we have; this idea was rather successful at Simple English Wikipedia over the last couple of years, and, following on from an e-mail received by accredited reporters via scoop, this would be an interesting statistic to have.
For comparison, there are 2,880,931 users on English Wikinews, of which 135 have edited in the past month. Next census is scheduled for April.

  1. I generally try and focus on "important news", but, in reality, write about whatever I find interesting. I hail from the United Kingdom, and consider myself fairly active. I have participated in just one OR article, but I thought it was jolly good fun. I'll review articles that are obvious faliures, but I don't find fact-checking enjoyable, but I'll do it if the queue gets too big or if I'm interested in the subject. — μ 18:13, December 13 2010 (UTC)
  2. Around almost every day at some point, based in the extreme south-east corner of Scotland. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:25, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
  3. I cover news from a variety of fields, and come from Lincolnshire, in the UK. I am active most days, but my quantity of writing and community participation has dropped severely since starting college. I do not often dabble in OR, but I have done so occasionally in the past (this does not usually extend far beyond the sending of a couple of emails). I usually review articles if I have both the time and the subject knowledge required for a thorough review, but these - especially the former - are in short supply at the moment. 4. I check for new messages about once every 2 days. My activity has dwindled over the last couple of months (mostly due to school, but also do to other interests in Wikimedia land), and as a result I'm not all that active anymore. I don't write things, I don't review things (Aren't i just an ideal contributor). I tend not to review articles because it takes too much time to verify all the assertions in the article are backed up by sources. Normally I want to do a task I can either accomplish in about 20 minutes, or can save and come back to, where reviewing takes significantly longer, and is atomic (by which i mean you can't half review an article). 5. I don't necessarily edit each day, but I do check RC each day, or try to. My contribution level has dropped mostly due to school and other "real world" stuff. —Mikemoral♪♫ 00:40, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
  6. ¡¿Qué mier** es esto?! Diego Grez return fire 00:40, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
  7. I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada. I usually check Wikinews (and pedia, and Stategic Planning) at least once a day, but I more often than not I just do a basic vandalism/spam check and that's it. Once every few days I do a sweep through the various places where work can build up (ie, editprotected requests), and about once a week I review an article. I rarely write an article or engage in significant collaboration on an article with someone else, but when I do it's always related to either basic research (fusion research, etc), or space news. 8. I generally check the news every day. I review articles if I have time. I'm busiest here during the Australian winter covering Australian rules football. And I cover elections as well. --RockerballAustralia c 03:07, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

  10. Somewhat active. fetch·comms 02:23, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
  11. I would consider myself to be an active editor. I prefer to write articles about subjects that I want to write about. I live in the United Kingdom. I have only created two articles containing original reporting; in both cases, it was not in-depth. Normally, I review articles if I can see a problem with them or if the article is short and/or contains two or three sources. --Rayboy8 (my talk) (my contributions) 01:10, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
  12. My only regret is that I have so little time to give for my favourite wiki. :) I live in the United States, have created five or six articles with OR, and I usually drop in to do little maintenance things; and when I have time, I promise I'm going to write an article. --Thunderhead (t - e - c) 05:50, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
  13. I haven't edited much for the past few months, but I do keep a watch on RC everyday, and expect to get active from now on. Pmlineditor discuss 08:07, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
  14. I haven't edited that much since last year in November, but I watch the Recent changes a lot. I will also start editing more coming in February, or sooner. Nascar1996 20:10, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
  15. I am alive. Don't edit often but view the site most days; also am answering our OTRS emails Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 02:31, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
  16. I don't edit too often, but whenever I see major breaking news on other sources, I pop in the IRC room. Typically I create (or launch, if you want to talk about articles being rockets) articles pertaining to deaths of notable people, major shootings, natural disasters, etc. ConCompS (talk) 21:40, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
  17. Edit everyday (and check in on IRC). Report on politics (mainly). From Australia. Not a reviewer but do a few unofficial reviews. Will hopefully do some OR in the future (just got accredited). ~YTT T | C 21:48, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
