Welcome[edit]

Ditsy, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! -- IlyaHaykinson 08:50, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About Oversight[edit]

I'd like to take a moment to point you at w:Wikipedia:Oversight. It lists the capabilities of the oversight tools, which I don't believe you understand.

I'm not wild that you're implying that this deletion request is somehow an agenda of mine, or that Brian was secretly editing that article. Can I ask what has prompted you to believe these things? Can you tell me what part of this article was a "copyright violation"? You said that was part of my vote for the deletion of it, but I wasn't aware of any.

I'm just all-around confused about your arguments on the deletion requests page. Can you clear them up for me? irid:t 08:18, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It has nothing to do with you Irid. I noticed copyright infringements you believe should be, what's the word(?), extenquished. Not sure I agree with that since they get extiguished without being vaporized like any community or organization would do. I'm talking about the behind the scenes stuff. There is no behind the scenes on a wiki. Ditsy 08:29, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I need to ask you to keep your discussion/votes relevant to the article. If you clutter up the discussion with things that aren't related to the article (especially personal attacks) they will be deleted. This is not because we don't like you, it's because we need to keep that area clear so people can actually talk about whether we need to delete an article.

If you want to talk about whatever is on your mind, please do so here, or on my talk page. It will never be deleted in either of those places, and you're free to say as much as you want. irid:t 09:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't like personal bias spilling over into article pages, why did messed do that? woot, me do first? look to the offender. Ditsy 09:18, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not his personal bias that encouraged him to submit it for deletion. The problem with that article, primarily, is that major news agencies have already picked up the story. We're late. We get this a lot; old articles just accumulate and never get published. There's no point in publishing an article if everyone has already watched/listened to/read it somewhere else.
I'd be all for publishing it and rolling it out the door if this were three days ago. But it's not; the article is stale.
Now, if User:DragonFire1024 gets an interview for the article, that will rev it right back up. Exclusive material makes the article very appealing. That's why I changed my vote to Abstain, because I want to see this get published if we can publish something that isn't already in all the major news outlets. irid:t 09:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreeing. I was pushing my own internal point knowing that the article was somehow not going to "hit" it. Sorry for my own trangressions, while I thought that some rather unforgiving oversight work could be reported at the end of the story.
Dunno, why reputable reporting has to be <disregarded> by the likes of Messed. I disagree that I don't get it. Ditsy 09:35, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry that you hold User:MessedRocker in such low regard that you have to refer to the "likes" of him. I think he's doing his job as an Administrator and a Janitor by deleting stuff that wouldn't be published. This is a normal process; articles that seem to be unpublishable go through "deletion requests". Often times, this will spur new development in an article to avoid its deletion.
Not every nomination for deletion is an act of aggression. It's just the normal process on a Wiki like ours. If MessedRocker wanted it deleted, he could have; he has the power to delete anything on the Wiki right now. For that matter, so do I.
I would strongly suggest you go read w:Wikipedia:Oversight. It details what oversight does, who can use it, and why. I know you don't believe you "don't get it". Consider, still, that you might be misunderstanding its purpose. irid:t 09:44, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I read and reported oversights "limits", and messed deleted it Ditsy 10:03, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ditsy, MessedRocker does not have Oversight permissions. Whatever you're talking about, you're wrong. Drop it. irid:t 10:04, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know he doesn't... pitiful the deletion of talk page stuff agressive to oversight by messed. what? oversight can't speak for itself? really pitiful... tired... irid
He deleted your comments because you're talking about something which is neither related to the article nor related to the deletion or retention of that article. It's like having an honest conversation about the merits of something, and then someone runs into the middle of it reading a phone book.
Ditsy, there are two things you need to consider here. First, you were putting comments on a project page, not a talk page. Project pages are for working on stuff. They're not for endless drivel on an irrelevant topic. Your comments on that project page were deleted. Notice how everything here hasn't been deleted yet.
The second thing you need to consider is this: I don't understand 90% of what you're saying because you don't type using coherent English. pitiful the deletion of talk page stuff agressive to oversight by messed doesn't mean anything to me. What I need from you is coherent English; then we can have a more meaningful discussion.
I know you have a problem with MessedRocker. For the time being, get over it. He has done nothing wrong, and therefore any complaints you bring up will be quickly dismissed. I'm not trying to be crass with you here; I'm being honest.
If you have reason to believe that Oversight permissions have been misused, or that some other misconduct has occurred, I am more than happy to hear you out. irid:t 10:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

?How can you write 4 paragraphs w/o a typo? I'm lead to believe that 90% of that will be misunderstood. u are not paying attention. Ditsy 10:32, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm giving up. You can find someone else to try and talk to you. For the time being, please avoid personal attacks, especially on User:MessedRocker. Personal attacks are against our site policy, and repeated offenses will result in a temporary block to prevent harassment.
Until you can be civil, and cooperate instead of bicker, I doubt you will find anyone to listen to your problem. Your uncivil comments don't impress me or anyone else in good standing here; please just tell us what it is you want, and get it over with. irid:t 10:44, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On being inappropriate[edit]

I saw what you uploaded, and I am letting you know now that personal attacks are not acceptable on Wikinews. Further personal attacks will result in being blocked. We do not take kindly to that type of behavior. irid:t 09:56, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It will be an award for all the deletion. Ditsy 09:58, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then you will be glad to know that your uploaded image was deleted as well. irid:t 10:02, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On being another user[edit]

as you've spent plenty of time on Wikinews in another avatar, pls keep in mind that you won't be cut much slack over personal attacks, POINTs and the like. –Doldrums(talk) 12:14, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
